Teachers in Singapore Special Education (SPED) schools face the challenge of designing barrier-free, instructionally rich learning environments which recognises learner variability and maximises access to learning. In 2015, Ministry of Education piloted the application of the UDL framework in lesson planning for more engaged learning to take place in SPED classrooms. Subsequently, a UDL Community of Practice (COP) was developed in 2017 to continuously grow the knowledge of UDL in Singapore for SPED. This presentation will share the UDL implementation journey in Singapore and highlight examples of how UDL is implemented for different types of learners with significant disabilities.
