Over the last 20 years a major shift has occurred in education. Computers, and technology in general, have evolved from tools used when learning to type to something that is part of our every waking moment. For many students (and adults!) it’s the first thing they experience in the morning, the last thing they see before going to bed, and the primary tool they rely on for both productivity while at school and social interactions while away. 
While there are both positives and negatives associated with the explosion of technology, it’s hard to argue the positive impact it has provided to diverse learners. Students who speak a different language can have words instantly translated and read aloud, struggling readers can easily listen to text and access talking dictionaries and images to help with comprehension, and much more.
