Variability includes poverty: Plan for it

Students who have or who are experiencing poverty are in our classrooms. We know this and we want to teach them. But while we believe UDL can help us design environments that will support these students, we also need to know specific information about how the impact of poverty affects everything from students’ coping mechanisms to how they approach learning. Using case studies as well as practical ideas from the field, we will explore these relationships and investigate how suggested supports align with the UDL framework.
